I Can Do That in Google Slides?
I do love a good "two-fer." You know, when you get two things for the price of one? My road trip last weekend was a two-fer. The pot of gold at the end of the journey was these two knuckleheads...and along the way I got to listen to last week's Google Teacher Tribe podcast. I'm #alwayslearning from Matt Miller and Kasey Bell. Their episodes 60 and 61 were dedicated to Google Slides. I particularly liked their suggestions for utilizing Slides for critical thinking activities instead of just for presentations. For example, set up slides for a Would-You- Rather-type game where the students are evaluating characters or conflicts or events and providing evidence for their selections. Or drop a picture into a slide and ask the student to add a speech bubble to imagine what the person in the photo is thinking and then in the speaker notes on the slide (or a text box in the gray space) to provide evidence for that line of thinking. Better yet, have older students select an image representative of the topic! Here are the show notes from episode 60 and 61. I'd love to collaborate with you on taking Google Slides to the next level. As Kasey says, Google Slides truly is the "Swiss army knife" of G-Suite.Want to Embed Your Class's Twitter Feed on Your Webpage?
If you are using the new Google Sites for your webpage, embedding a Twitter feed is simple.1. Go to this site and type in your Twitter handle. (@xyz)
2. Choose from the two display options.
